Alpha Chi Omega, here in the largest house on campus, girls are offered a great place to call home. Whether you play sports, dance, paint, sing, there is something for you! Alpha Chi’s are involved in every aspect of the University. Within our sorority one can be elected to an executive position such as President, Social Chair, or Finance. In addition to the thirteen executive officers, this sorority offers numerous non-executive positions including Secretary, Sisterhood, Philanthropy or Homecoming Chair. The women of Alpha Chi are among the most visible and active members both inside and outside the Greek System. From representation on Panhellenic Council and Judicial Board to University Varsity Athletics and involvement within the Wisconsin Alumni Association, all are strongly valued and encouraged. Girls from all different backgrounds come together and strive to apply the strength of our sisterhood within our house, the Greek system, the University and the community. Alpha Chi’s are girls proud of the tradition they have built on this campus for over 100 years!

Alpha Chi Omega’s annual philanthropy is Mr. Alpha Chi. This campus wide event showcases some of the University’s finest males in a male beauty pageant. These outstanding gentlemen are judged on evening wear, talent, and a short answer section. The night is lighthearted and wildly fun-filled with skits, dances, and raffles sponsored by Madison businesses as well as other Greeks. Mr. Alpha Chi has proven not only lucrative in it’s raising over $10,000 in the past but it is also informative. The night is used not only to have fun but also to educate all on the beneficiary of the funds, Domestic Abuse Intervention Services of Dane County (DAIS). This organization helps to prevent and educate victims of physical abuse. Mr. Alpha Chi raises money to support DAIS as well as spread their message.

Founded in 1885 in Indiana , Alpha Chi Omega has since made great strides. Today there are 132 collegiate chapters. The University of Wisconsin Chapter celebrated their centennial in the spring of 2004, a wonderful occasion marking the true strength and beauty of sisterhood. Alpha Chi Omega’s symbol is the lyre, which represents the sororities’ roots as the first musical sorority. The Alpha Chi flower is the red carnation in accordance with sororities’ colors, scarlet and olive green.
